Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering Opus Publica as a potential platform for publishing your scholarly work. We strive to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and promote intellectual discourse in the field of public affairs. To ensure a smooth submission and publication process, please carefully review the following author guidelines:

  1. Manuscript Preparation:

    • Submissions should be original research articles, critical reviews, or theoretical papers relevant to the field of public affairs.
    • Manuscripts must be written in English and follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style for formatting and referencing.
    • The length of the manuscript should typically range between 6,000 and 8,000 words, excluding references and appendices.
    • Authors should use clear and concise language, adhering to scholarly writing standards.
  2. Submission Process:

    • Authors must submit their manuscripts electronically via the Opus Publica online submission system, which can be accessed through our website.
    • Manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
    • Along with the manuscript, authors are required to provide an abstract of no more than 250 words and a list of keywords that best represent the content of the paper.
    • Authors should also provide a brief biographical statement (approximately 100 words) detailing their academic qualifications and research interests.
  3. Peer Review Process:

    • All submissions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles.
    • The review process typically takes 4-6 weeks, and authors will be notified of the outcome, including any revisions required, by email.
    • Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments and make necessary revisions within the given timeframe.
  4. Copyright and Ethics:

    • By submitting their work to Opus Publica, the authors acknowledge that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
    • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used in their manuscript and must properly cite and acknowledge all sources.
    • Opus Publica adheres to ethical guidelines and expects authors to maintain high standards of integrity, avoiding plagiarism and fraudulent practices.
  5. Open Access and Licensing:

    • Opus Publica follows an open-access publishing model, ensuring unrestricted access to published articles for readers worldwide.
    • Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, granting Opus Publica the right to publish and distribute their work while allowing others to share and adapt the content with proper attribution.
  6. Publication Fees:

    • Opus Publica does not charge any submission or processing fees to authors. However, if an article is accepted for publication, a reasonable publication fee may be applicable to cover production costs.
